24 June 2006 » Started a comprehensive FOS SHM system for a balance cantilever bridge in Singapore

FOSTA is awarded as an instrumentation specialist to design, supply, install and commission an in-place Bridge Monitoring System. The tender specifies that both static and dynamic measurements are to be made to monitor bridge behaviours during construction and vibration performance upon completion of construction and open to the traffic. Eight types of monitoring devices will be used in the bridge.

FOSTA and a national leading research institute in Singapore are working on a joint R&D project on FBG (Fibre Bragg Grating) fibre optic sensing technology. The one-year project strengthens the leading status of FOSTA's SHM (Structural Health Monitoring) expertise in the building and construction industry.


19 April 2005 » Partnership with AOS GmbH, Germany

FOSTA and AOS GmbH, Germany are delighted to announce their close collaboration in Asia. The collaboration combines strengths from two companies in areas of FBG sensor technology, instrumentation and projects' implementation experience. AOS's earliest FOS projects back dated in 1998. After 8 years, the sensors are now still in good working condition on monitoring of concrete bridge performance.


Flexible FBG Sensors
November 2004 » The world's first

FOSTA prototyped the world-first flexible FBG sensors by using aerospace composite technology. Portable autoclave was used to control temperature and pressure schedules on curing process of composite materials. The composite laminates had various lay-ups, fibre orientation and fibre/matrix ratio to obtain optimum sensing performance.
