Linear heat detection system for a road tunnel using DTS system

A tunnel is constructed beneath a lake, and is a key traffic route to the central business district of a large city in the southern part of China.
A 2-km optical cable sensor is attached to an existing telecom cable on the ceiling of tunnel to detect fires. The system was installed and commissioned in March 2006. The system is able to detect temperature change of less than 1°C with measurement update time of just 10 seconds.

Temperature monitoring of 11km 230kv buried power cable using DTS system

DTS is used to monitor temperature distribution of power cable so as to optimise power load performance and rate dynamic loading.
Our DTS system was used to measure temperature distribution of single- and muilti-mode optical cables attached to a buried 230kv power circuit. We used 20 seconds to 12 minutes measurement update time. We achieved 0.1 - 2.5°C temperature resolution.

Pipeline leak detection - liquid - using DTSS system

Distributed temperature and strain sensing (DTSS) system was used in this project to monitor performance and leaks of a 2-km liquid pipeline. The system provided the owner with strain resolution of 2µstrain and 20-minutes measurement time.
